Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience designing and iterating on prompts for LLM-powered applications in a production environment.
  • Deep familiarity with few-shot examples, chain-of-thought, system and user roles, output-formatting constraints, tool-use prompting, and retrieval-augmented generation integration.
  • Strong written communication skills for clear, precise, and persuasive writing.
  • Experience building and running prompt evaluations, including defining metrics, writing test cases, and interpreting results to make improvement decisions.
  • Ability to work across disciplines, including discussing context windows with engineers and Bloom’s Taxonomy with faculty members.
  • Experience with LLM observability tools such as Langfuse, Weights & Biases, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with Learning Tools Interoperability and AI integrations with learning management systems such as Moodle, Canvas, or Instructure.
  • Experience with voice agents or multimodal prompting.
  • Ability to read and write basic JavaScript and Python to support prompt automation and testing pipelines.
  • Knowledge of OpenAI, Anthropic, or other model-provider application programming interfaces.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguity and iterate quickly based on user feedback.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to live and work in the United States and reside there throughout employment.
Responsibilities
  • Write, iterate, and maintain system prompts and instruction sets for AI agents focused on student enrollment, learning, and retention.
  • Translate complex educational and operational requirements into reliable agent behavior, including persona definition, tone, scope constraints, fallback handling, and multi-turn conversation logic.
  • Design prompt architectures for multi-step and chained agent workflows, including retrieval-augmented generation agents that use program-specific knowledge bases.
  • Configure and deploy agents through the AI orchestration platform, including primary prompts, secondary context, knowledge-base attachments, and embed definitions, in collaboration with engineering.
  • Create three-way chat experiences involving a learner, a campus or Noodle support staff member, and that staff member’s AI assistant.
  • Build and maintain evaluation frameworks measuring agent accuracy, tone, hallucination rate, task completion, and alignment with rubric-based learning objectives.
  • Use Langfuse to monitor prompt performance in production, identify regressions, and prioritize improvements.
  • Design red-teaming and adversarial-testing protocols to identify edge cases and failure modes before agents reach students.
  • Establish prompt-versioning practices and maintain a library of tested, reusable prompt components.
  • Partner with Noodle teammates and university stakeholders to design, build, and test agents by translating learning objectives, operational flows, and rubric assessments into prompt-level instructions.
  • Work with enrollment and student-success teams to tune companion agents for specific programs and university-partner contexts.
  • Contribute prompt-engineering guidelines and best-practices documentation for internal teams configuring agents on the AI orchestration platform.
  • Monitor capability changes across OpenAI, Anthropic, and other model providers integrated into Noodle’s technology stack and surface opportunities or risks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
