Requirements
  • 4+ years of hands-on Ruby on Rails experience with production applications
  • Experience leading a team of developers in a Scrum/agile environment
  • Recent Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or equivalent credentials
  • Strong communication skills to translate between business and technical nomenclature and coordinate asks between product and developers on your team
  • Skills in resolving conflicts between team members
  • A mastery of fundamentals: SOLID coding principles, domain-driven design, performant code and queries, unit and integration testing
  • Ability to build quick when we need to experiment and build clean when MVP becomes core functionality
  • A full stack mentality: Every dev owns their features in full, meaning all the way from back end to front end code, automated and real life testing, demos, and delivery
  • Experienced with standard developer tooling: Git, GitHub, Jira, editor of your choice.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of developers focused on a particular persona or segment of our business growth
  • Run all team ceremonies (stand-up, planning, retrospective, backlog refinement) and engage developer team members in collaboration in these events
  • Collaborate with the team PM to translate what we need into how to build it
  • Coordinate with other leads to architect net new features, with an emphasis on scalability and security
  • Provide general technical mentorship for team members
  • Advocate for addressing technical debt with supporting evidence of the value of committing effort to this
  • Review team member work (PRs) as the accountable senior reviewer as per our SDLC
  • Coordinate quality assurance of developed features with the QA team
  • Perform 1:1s with team members on a bi-weekly cadence and review their weekly updates to identify any issues or needs
  • Work to the best of your ability to resolve team member issues, including performance shortfalls, issues with other members of the team, etc, while escalating serious issues to the Dev Manager and VP Dev
  • Manage team member time-off, ensuring adequate notice is given and that scheduled time off is staggered between team members as much as possible
  • Work with other department stakeholders along with PM to understand high level product requirements
  • Establish meaningful team KPIs that are data-driven and viewable within our current reporting system (Metabase), which demonstrate team performance and progress made toward company priorities
