Syntegon reports 7% sales growth, record order backlog in H1 2026. September 8, 2026 Syntegon reported first-half 2026 group sales of Euro 883 million, up 7% year-on-year, with adjusted EBITDA rising 16% to Euro 148 million. The adjusted EBITDA margin expanded to 16.8%, up 130 basis points versus the first half of 2025. Order intake reached Euro 964 million, with a book-to-bill ratio of 1.09 and a record order backlog of Euro 1.3 billion. "Our first-half 2026 results underline the positive impact of our strategy and the strength of Syntegon's market position," said Torsten Türling, chief executive officer of Syntegon. "Our Pharma business remains our strongest growth engine. We achieved major new customer wins and market share gains in the expanding biologics market globally and in the United States in particular." "Our first-half results demonstrate Syntegon's strong operating leverage. Adjusted EBITDA increased more than twice as fast as sales, taking the margin to 16.8%," added Eros Carletti, chief financial officer of Syntegon. "This reflects the stronger earnings contribution from Pharma, operational discipline and continued improvements in project execution. Our solid order book provides a strong foundation for continued profitable growth and cash generation." Pharma business achieves double-digit sales growth According to the company, the pharmaceutical and biotech industries continue to benefit from structural growth drivers, including the expansion of biologics and injectable medicines and growing demand for more flexible and highly automated pharmaceutical production. Syntegon expands pharma competence in Fellbach. The focus is on development and production processes for tablets and capsules - including the filling and sealing of capsules. 2nd September 2026 Picture: Syntegon Syntegon has opened a new customer centre for solid oral dosage forms at its Fellbach site. The focus is on development and production processes for tablets and capsules - including the filling and sealing of capsules. The company invested a double-digit million amount in the new location. The OSD Customer Center was established on an area of 7,900 square metres following its relocation from Waiblingen. It comprises cleanrooms, a powder laboratory and facilities for trials with oral solid dosage forms (OSD). Pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers can use it to test new formulations and production processes under real-world conditions. Focus on capsule filling and sealing. For the trials, capsule fillers and sealers, as well as tablet presses, are available in Fellbach, among other equipment. This enables manufacturers to test important processing steps for medicines and food supplements before the products go into series production. According to Syntegon, the spatial proximity in particular between the customer centre and production is intended to facilitate the transfer of knowledge. As a result, development and manufacturing processes could be transferred more quickly to subsequent production. The company also expects this to lead to shorter time-to-market periods for new medicines and dietary supplements. "With an investment in the tens of millions, we are sending a strong signal for our growth strategy in Fellbach and creating an environment designed to always be one step ahead." Thomas Hartkämper, Executive Vice President Pharma Solid at Syntegon Syntegon also points to efficiency gains from the move. In the very first months, delivery reliability had increased by ten percent through improved cross-departmental collaboration, agile working methods, and higher efficiency. OSD Academy also in Fellbach in future. The new centre is also to be used for training courses. The OSD Academy, previously held in Schopfheim among other places, will in future also take place in Fellbach. The first edition at the new location is planned for 2027.
Syntegon adds pilot-scale coater to Sepion series for flexible batch processing. August 19, 2026 Syntegon, a lifecycle partner to the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, has expanded its oral solid dosage (OSD) processing portfolio with the Sepion 75, a pilot-scale tablet coater designed to support manufacturers and CDMOs in handling growing product diversity, smaller and more variable batch sizes, and stricter containment requirements for highly potent active ingredients. The new coater completes the established Sepion series and is aimed at supporting consistent scale-up, flexible batch processing, and containment-oriented manufacturing. Building on the company's coating expertise, the Sepion series combines established process knowledge with a machine concept tailored to modern pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements. "By extending the Sepion series to the pilot scale, we support pharmaceutical manufacturers in simplifying development and scale-up while maintaining consistent process principles across production stages," said Fritz-Martin Scholz, global product manager at Syntegon. The new tablet coater is designed to enable flexible batch processing across a wide operating range, covering batch sizes from 10% to 100% of the maximum working volume. Two interchangeable drum sizes within a single machine cover batch volumes from 8 to 75 liters, supporting both early development batches and advanced pilot runs without requiring process parameters to be redefined, which the company said allows for flexible production planning and reduces downtime during product changeovers. An optimized drum geometry combined with an advanced spraying system is said to improve process air usage and allow for shorter processing times. The automatically adjustable spray arm maintains the spray position for different filling levels and is intended to contribute to reproducible coating conditions across varying batch sizes, making the Sepion 75 suitable for applications such as functional coatings. The whole Sepion series features closed material handling during filling, sampling, and discharge. By minimizing manual intervention, the machine concept is designed to support containment-oriented production for highly potent active ingredients. Containment up to OEB5 is available as an option for all Sepion coaters through split valves, safe-change filters, and extended cleaning configurations, which the company said improves operator safety and reduces contamination risks while supporting compliance with pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements. Apart from the Sepion 75, the coater series is available in six size variants from 175 to 1,000 liters capacity, covering production outputs from development to commercial manufacturing. As a lifecycle partner to the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, Syntegon supports customers throughout the equipment lifecycle, from process development and scale-up to qualification, modernization, and services. The company said its process expertise and global service network help customers optimize production performance, maintain reliable operation, and adapt manufacturing processes to changing market and regulatory requirements.
Re:imagining the line. Posted 5 August, 2026 At PACK EXPO International, Syntegon will join its customers in "re:imagining" the Factory of the Future by providing answers to their most pressing challenges. Manufacturers are no longer asking whether factories should become more automated and connected. The question is now how quickly they can evolve to cope with rising costs, labour shortages, increasing regulatory scrutiny and rapidly changing consumer demand. That is the message underpinning Syntegon's presence at Pack Expo International 2026, where the company is showcasing what it describes as the building blocks of the "Factory of the Future" across food, pharmaceutical and biotechnology production. Rather than focusing on individual machines, Syntegon is positioning automation as part of a wider manufacturing strategy centred on flexibility, lifecycle support and AI-enabled production management. Industry pressures driving factory transformation. Syntegon argues that manufacturers are facing a combination of structural challenges unlikely to ease in the coming years. Escalating labour costs, difficulties recruiting skilled operators, shorter production runs, growing product portfolios and tighter regulatory requirements are forcing processors to rethink traditional production models. The company's longer-term vision is an operation capable of regulating itself, adapting automatically to changing production requirements and supporting operators through an AI-enabled control centre that uses real-time operational data to optimise performance. For food manufacturers, this reflects a broader industry trend away from isolated automation projects towards connected production ecosystems where equipment, software and service support operate as an integrated system. Flexible packaging designed for rapid changeovers. Among the highlights making their North American debut is neXt, Syntegon's integrated packaging solution aimed at improving operational flexibility. The system combines automated workflows, intuitive operator interfaces and real-time performance monitoring to reduce downtime while simplifying changeovers between different products and packaging formats. The emphasis is less on replacing operators than allowing them to focus on higher-value production activities while automation handles repetitive tasks. Alongside neXt, Syntegon is introducing the latest version of its SVX vertical packaging platform, capable of producing up to 300 bags per minute. The platform has been designed to minimise cost per pack while supporting faster changeovers between bag formats and maximising productivity within increasingly constrained factory footprints. At Pack Expo, the company is demonstrating new capabilities for corner-seal bags alongside a complete frozen food packaging line. Compliance remains central for pharmaceutical manufacturing. The Factory of the Future extends beyond food production. For pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturers, Syntegon is highlighting technologies designed to simplify compliance with increasingly stringent sterile manufacturing requirements, including EU GMP Annex 1. Its new SPC 4000 settle plate changer automates viable environmental monitoring, reducing manual intervention during production while increasing process security and equipment availability. The technology integrates with Syntegon's vial filling lines to create more automated aseptic manufacturing environments. Equipment becomes a long-term manufacturing partnership. Perhaps the strongest message emerging from Syntegon's Pack Expo strategy is that machinery alone is no longer enough. The company is increasingly positioning itself as a lifecycle partner rather than simply an equipment supplier, offering engineering support, commissioning, field service, AI-driven performance analytics and ongoing upgrades designed to maximise return on investment throughout an asset's operational life. According to CEO Torsten Türling, innovations are being developed alongside customers to solve real production challenges rather than technology for its own sake. "Game-changing innovations, jointly developed with pioneering customers, deliver greater business impact in an environment defined by cost pressure, labour shortages, rising flexibility needs, and increasing regulatory complexity." Syntegon's vision reflects a wider shift taking place across food and drink manufacturing. The factory of the future is increasingly being defined by connected, intelligent production environments where equipment, software, AI and service support function as a single ecosystem. For manufacturers, success will depend on building production systems capable of adapting continuously to changing market demands, workforce pressures and regulatory expectations. Pack Expo 2026 suggests equipment suppliers are increasingly competing on that broader operational vision as much as on machine performance alone.
