Requirements
  • Master’s degree required in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a closely related field.
  • 3–5 years of related professional experience in student support, mentoring, advising, or a similar higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated experience providing supervision, training, and performance evaluation of student employees and/or graduate interns is required.
  • Knowledge of peer mentoring best practices, student development theory, and student retention strategies
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate student staff and graduate interns effectively
  • Strong ability to collect, analyze, and interpret both quantitative and qualitative data to inform program decisions and improvements
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse campus stakeholders
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for students from varied backgrounds
  • Proficiency with data management systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive student information appropriately

  • Ability to travel periodically to residential campuses to support mentoring programs, including participation in events and engagement activities for mentors and mentees
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of peer mentoring programs aligned with institutional goals
  • Support the development and ongoing updates of training curricula and resources for mentors and program participants
  • Assist in the establishment and refinement of program policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency, quality, and effectiveness
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of Peer Mentors
  • Provide direct supervision and mentorship to graduate interns supporting program operations
  • Facilitate regular team meetings, professional development sessions, and performance evaluations
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and growth-oriented team environment
  • Track, analyze, and report program data, including student participation, engagement, and outcomes
  • Utilize data to inform decision-making, improve program effectiveness, and demonstrate impact
  • Prepare reports and presentations for university leadership and key stakeholders
  • Monitor student progress and intervene as needed to support mentee success
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and student services to connect students with appropriate resources
  • Promote mentoring programs through outreach, events, and campus engagement initiatives
  • Partner with campus departments to integrate mentoring into broader student success initiatives
  • Represent the mentoring program at university committees, events, and external conferences
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within mentoring programs
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge, skills, and program effectiveness
  • Attend and contribute to monthly roundtable discussions focused on mentoring best practices, student success strategies, and program innovation
