Requirements
  • A California Registered Nurse license is required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications must be obtained before completing orientation and receiving independent patient assignments.
  • The nurse must pass orientation and the initial competency assessment before independently assigning patients requiring the applicable skill.
  • The nurse must complete and pass all annual competencies.
  • The nurse must be able to take call according to hospital on-call policy guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, assess, and provide nursing care according to hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Orient new staff and precept students.
  • Assume relief charge nurse duties when oriented and assigned.
  • Deliver direct nursing care to all patient populations in the Outpatient Surgery Center during assigned hours.
  • Provide nursing care in the Outpatient Surgery Center areas of Admitting, the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and/or Endoscopy.
  • Conduct pre-procedure interviews.
  • Prepare patients for surgeries and procedures.
  • Assist with endoscopy procedures.
  • Reprocess gastrointestinal scopes.
  • Recover patients after procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least three years of medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital or multispecialty outpatient surgery center.
  • At least one year of telemetry experience.
  • Critical care experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing.
