Requirements
  • An associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a closely-related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units (i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in one of the fields above or a closely-related field)
  • Experience in analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing and/or maintaining the components of an enterprise network may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units/forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in one of the fields above or a closely-related field
  • Completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may be substituted for the required degree
  • Verification: Applicants may be required to submit verification of qualifying education and experience at any point during the recruitment and selection process; if education verification is required, provide a copy of diploma showing major or transcripts; if experience verification is required, provide a letter from employer on business letterhead with duties performed; resumes are not verification
  • Additional Department Specific Requirements (San Francisco Airport Commission): TSA Security Clearance requires complete employment history for past ten years and explanation of gaps; criminal history check including FBI fingerprints; may require drug/alcohol screening; must possess and maintain required qualifications for the examination; failure to obtain/maintain security clearance may be basis for termination
  • Customs Clearance: qualified for unescorted access to San Francisco International Airport U.S. Customs Security Area; must apply for and maintain a Customs Access Seal; related requirements under Code of Federal Regulations Title 19, Part 122, Sections 181 or 189
  • Security clearance: for positions with the Sheriff’s Department ( Jail Health Services ) must be maintained for continued employment; failure to demonstrate proof may lead to dismissal
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential: for San Francisco Port Commission positions, must obtain TWIC certificate as condition of employment and be insurable under the Port's automobile liability insurance policy; insurability must be maintained
Responsibilities
  • Supports commercial software packages, internally developed applications and web services
  • Assists with customizing and adding new features to commercial software packages and internally developed applications according to end user requests
  • Assists with day-to-day operations of various applications
  • Assists with designing and building new applications based on customer's requirements and specifications
  • Assists with and performing tests for applications, fixes problems as they arise and assists with product launches
  • Provides technical support and helps to troubleshoot problems related to applications
  • Assists with writing technical documentation and uses best development practices regarding version control and testing
  • Assists with performing software upgrades and helps to keep track of software licensing
  • This position may include additional duties as assigned
