Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of work-related experience are required.
  • A valid Pennsylvania state driver's license, a good driving record, three years of driving experience, and successful completion of the Salvation Army driving test are required.
  • Salvation Army KeepSafe certificates are required.
  • Applicants must complete the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Applicants must complete Pennsylvania-approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training before employment.
  • Applicants must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily operations of the Salvation Army day camp program.
  • Supervise assigned program participants and engage them in scheduled program activities.
  • Participate in activities and model positive participation while supervising assigned groups.
  • Assist teachers and program leaders in supervising and monitoring student behavior and modeling and encouraging student engagement during lessons.
  • Keep assigned program participants in sight and within earshot at all times and follow restroom break policies.
  • Help provide a safe, educational, enriching, and fun environment for program participants.
  • Monitor participant behavior to ensure compliance with program rules and regulations and consistently implement the provided behavior plan and policy.
  • Manage student behavior issues according to program policy with a positive, encouraging, and compassionate approach.
  • Model appropriate behavior and responsible leadership for program participants.
  • Maintain communication between supervisory staff and program staff.
  • Ensure program rules and regulations are reviewed, distributed, and followed by staff and participants.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
