Requirements
  • Completion of a two-year post-secondary diploma in practical nursing.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the lab and simulation team, including the lab and simulation coordinator, practice placement coordinator, staff, faculty, and students, to foster a positive work environment and a culture of excellence in lab and simulation.
  • Work with the simulation coordinator to support strategic planning for lab and simulation across programs.
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and inventory management, including creating purchase orders and reconciling credit card transactions.
  • Maintain related databases, software, and programs, and liaise with information technology, audiovisual, and other services to ensure optimal equipment functioning.
  • Ensure lab and simulation data storage complies with privacy and security standards and manage appropriate access to the data.
  • Assist with the operational management of scheduling learning spaces, equipment, and personnel resources.
  • Create a clear process for determining priority access to equipment.
  • Work closely with external technical experts and technicians and ensure optimum operating environments for staff, faculty, and students.
  • Maintain records of equipment service agreements and warranties, and raise pending expiry and renewal requirements in a timely manner.
  • Manage lab and simulation setup, takedown, overall cleanliness, visual inspections of equipment, redeployment of supplies, and troubleshooting of issues.
  • Apply nursing practice standards and School of Nursing content to judgments and decisions affecting the lab and simulation environment.
  • Support safe, accurate, reliable, and well-organized lab and simulation learning operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Health Sciences degree, such as a Bachelor of Health Sciences or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of healthcare equipment and supplies.
  • Database management experience and an aptitude for learning new applications.
  • Project management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative, exercise good judgment, and resolve technical problems.
  • Ability to prioritize work, multitask, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills and knowledge of safety issues.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret university policies, procedures, manuals, handbooks, and reports.
