Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in banking or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high monetary risk operations environment governed by established deadlines and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to make effective decisions under pressure in a high monetary risk environment.
  • Sound organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience reviewing proposals and business cases and drawing logical conclusions from analysis.
  • High level of technology proficiency.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, particularly in creating and manipulating spreadsheets and creating reports from spreadsheets.
Responsibilities
  • Process, review, create, and research share draft posting exceptions and chargeback files, making pay or no-pay decisions in accordance with departmental guidelines, timelines, controls, procedures, and policies.
  • Process share draft dispute and fraud claim requests in accordance with check processing rules and department procedures.
  • Review daily remote deposit capture and automated teller machine deposits and make accept or reject decisions in accordance with departmental guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Maintain, review, and research assigned reconciliations daily, including supporting documentation for outstanding or problem items.
  • Process bank-by-mail transactions and foreign item collections.
  • Scan and repair checks through the forward check collection process and reconcile check processing for all checks.
  • Handle check-related activity requests and email inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to phone availability requirements and navigate inquiries on payment operations topics including automated clearing house transactions, wire transfers, drafts, and mobile deposits.
  • Monitor virtual check processing batches and address out-of-balance situations, image-quality exceptions, and processing errors.
  • Respond in a timely manner to check adjustment cases received from or sent to the Federal Reserve Bank via FedLine Web.
  • Maintain processing accuracy and member-information confidentiality.
  • Compile and maintain departmental daily and monthly statistical reporting data in accordance with stated deadlines.
  • Report instances of noncompliance with credit union or departmental procedures and policies to area management.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with Accounting to resolve exception or problem items.
  • Keep current with technological and industry developments, regulatory changes, and compliance requirements.
  • Process check fraud claims in accordance with security controls and regulatory timeframes.
  • Ensure detailed procedures are accurate and up to date in accordance with departmental processes.
  • Adhere to internal and external member-service standards while providing service to internal and external customers.
  • Support continuous-improvement ideas and suggestions.
  • Perform settlement of forward-presentment check files, including creation of Electronic Cash Letter files presented to the Federal Reserve Bank.
  • Maintain responsibility for work production, workflow schedules, and cash-letter deadlines.
  • Escalate Item Processing production issues according to established procedures.
  • Complete daily reconciliation proofs for associated processes, including third-party files, branch work, and FedForward files, and research unresolved differences.
  • Act as a resource to the branch network and support check processing, including exceptions, issues, scanning, and coordination of software issues with vendors.
  • Assist in testing new check-related core processing systems or updates.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree is preferred.
  • Experience working with reconciliations is helpful.
  • Fluency in a second language in addition to English is highly encouraged.
