Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of product design experience
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Experience in sheet metal or heavy fabrication design
  • Experience in Mechanical Design and Drafting
  • Experience in Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes
Responsibilities
  • Performs mechanical designs and calculations under the direct supervision of an Engineer or Team Lead
  • Assists in the preparation of mechanical designs for power and low voltage products
  • Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis
  • Presents technical information during design meetings or reviews
  • Creates and updates 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components
  • Creates and updates 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies
  • Prepare Bills of Materials and prepare Change Notices to release components and assemblies
  • Supports the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products
  • Self-checks own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed
  • Works with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs
  • Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • 5 years of product design experience preferred
  • Experience in large 3D assemblies preferred
  • Experience in casting, machining, roto-molded components, or fiber-reinforced plastic components preferred
  • Experience in electrical components or equipment preferred
