Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will be part of the Arch Insurance North America finance team and will be responsible for supporting the MidCorp and Entertainment Business (MCE).  This position will be tasked with assisting all finance and accounting related operational tasks, reporting and analysis.

This is a hybrid role with an onsite expectation two to three times per week based out of the Jersey City, NJ or Garden City, NY office.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Assists in Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet Financial Close on a timely basis, while ensuring adherence to GAAP and Statutory Accounting principles.
• Provides reconciliations, account activity explanations, and other support as required for internal and external auditors.
• Prepares manual journal entries on a monthly and quarterly basis and reconciles automatic journal entries against financial statements.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of account balances.
• Works closely with the Global Treasury team to monitor and reconcile fund held accounts on a monthly basis.
• Assists in the preparation of schedules for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and assists with the annual audited statutory statements.
• Will have extensive interaction with various departments at Arch Insurance North America, including underwriting, actuarial, legal, reinsurance, claims and IT, to ensure a cohesive operation supporting MCE business.
• Assists to designs, improve and document processes and flowcharts.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Exceptional work ethic, integrity and ability to work autonomously while effectively managing expectations.
• Excellent analytical skills with an ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) Working knowledge of Workday general ledger. 

Desired Skills and Abilities

• Power BI knowledge a plus.
• Alteryx knowledge a plus.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
• 5 years’ Insurance/Reinsurance related experience preferred.
• Related experience in financial accounting, preferably within the insurance industry, with a strong background in financial statement preparation, reconciliations and flux analysis.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$79,900 - $107,900/year

• Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
