Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking a Director of Operations Engineering to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. This position is a critical role in the Cell Operations and Engineering group as the responsible individual in effective feedback to internal and external customers and suppliers, resulting in the continued pathway of bringing Solid Power technology and material to the industry. The focused responsibility is twofold: first, leading the strategy and execution of two operation engineering teams across the pre-pilot and pilot lines, along with four individual contributor roles and, second, succinct and professionally deliver data feedback to be presented amongst the cross-functional team, peers, and executives. This is a highly cross functional and strategic position and will work both within and outside the Cell Technologies organization. Some of these relationships will include Cell Development, Technology Integration, R&D, Program Management, Electrolyte Technologies, EH&S, Quality, Supply Chain, Automation and Automation Maintenance, and HR.
Job Duties:
- Daily collaboration with the Operations Manager, the Senior Manager of Operations and Control Systems, and direct reports for development, planning, and execution of technology pathway and cell deliverables.
- Responsibility for the capital planning within the Operations Engineering organization to include OPEX and CAPEX with the proven ability to successfully execute 3YP practices.
- Responsible for the professional development within their organization to include soft-skill development, technical development, and cross-functional exposure for development.
- Must be a self-starter and able to direct and manage their department to successfully execute the department goals, business directives, and company initiatives.
- A highly accountable and competent leader with a proven track record of strong EQ leadership and change management success.
- With the culture of a start-up, this role will grow and evolve as the business changes.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required preferably in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or civil engineering from an accredited university to include 10+ years progressive leadership experience and 10+ years engineering, manufacturing, or other relevant experience.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Strong lean six sigma/TPM/continuous improvement methodology required.
- Team builder that thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills to support
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite required, proficiency in SAP preferred.
- Consistent and reliable work attendance is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Ability to lift 50lbs as needed.
- Ability to work in a dry room environment to support engineers and operators as required.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR.
- This position may need to travel between locations to support critical and strategic meetings.
Salary Range: $185,000 - $200,000/annually
