Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electronics engineering; Master’s or PhD degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in BMS hardware or mixed signal and power electronics hardware development for industrial, automotive, large consumer products or aerospace applications (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Experience in HV battery management system design or similar HW development for a production-released product
  • Experience in low voltage BMS HW design and good analog / mixed-signal / power electronics design
  • Proficiency in architecting and designing analog & mixed signal high voltage, high accuracy and medium speed PCB designs using the latest cell monitors and master BMS microcontrollers
  • Proficiency in HV DC/DC, contactors, fuse selection for HV ESS applications with excellent understanding of HV safety and protection methods
  • Proficiency in HW simulation tools like PSpice, LTspice and modeling tools like MATLAB, SIMULINK
  • Proficiency in HV circuit design, protection, and safety aspects as applicable to HV batteries
  • Proficiency in ECAD tools like Altium for schematics and layout
  • Excellent skills required in technical communication, and reliance on data for issue resolution and decision making
  • Excellent hands-on electronic development and testing skills and experience required
  • Good understanding of lithium-based cell chemistries, their protection requirements, and gauging challenges
  • Ability to design HW to meet environmental, EMI/EMC, thermal, shock & vibration per industry standards or aviation standards like DO160
  • Experience in conducting and documenting tolerance analysis, part stress analysis, safety hazard analysis, FMEA, and FTA
  • Experience in designing with varies communication interfaces like CAN, SPI, SCI, I2C and Ethernet
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for BMS hardware or other mixed signal power electronics design, development and design releases with complete configuration control
  • Responsible for interface definition development between peer sub systems
  • Responsible for hands on board bring up, BMS verification, Battery verification efforts
  • Support architectures development for HVBMS for new and innovative ESS solutions
  • Ensure requirement traceability between BMS and other higher and lower-level system
  • Develop and release board level and system level requirement specifications
  • Simulate ESS and BMS using MATLAB/ Simulink and linking with aircraft level models and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems for parallel validation of BMS functionality
  • Analyze the schematic and layout designs to verify its conformance to the design requirements using Reliability studies, fault tree analysis, DFMEA or similar approaches
  • Conduct and participate in design reviews, incorporate team feedback, and release design documents
  • Develop validation requirements for HVBMS and approve validation results confirming agreed upon performance.
