Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate is required.
  • At least one year of progressive responsibility and directly related work experience is required.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English clearly.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to calculate, balance, and reconcile figures and make change accurately.
  • Skill in operating a computer, fax machine, and copy machine.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and doctors.
  • Experience with and proficiency in electronic medical records.
  • Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office.
  • Measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunizations are required as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Answer telephones, triage calls, take messages, and provide information.
  • Provide support services to patients and medical staff, including scheduling appointments and admissions as required.
  • Prepare patient charts and other office documents, and scan and sort documents into the Electronic Health Record.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Maintain files and assist in updating office systems.
  • Inventory office supplies and assist with the care and maintenance of office equipment.
  • Book, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments, and relay necessary messages to staff and doctors.
  • Answer questions regarding patient appointments, prescriptions, and testing.
  • Greet and register patients promptly and pleasantly, verify necessary information, and update patient records.
  • Assemble patients' paperwork and forms for visits.
  • Request referrals and authorizations as needed when scheduling specialists.
  • Log payments and balance receipts, ensuring that copays are balanced and reports are properly produced.
  • Oversee the reception area, coordinate patient movement, and report problems or irregularities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Adhere to the company's Best Practices as introduced by the company or Practice Leader.
  • Perform other related work as assigned or required.
  • Work in multiple locations if required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of business school or related training, including computer courses.
  • Experience using EPIC software.
  • Bilingual Spanish language ability.
