Requirements
  • Proven ability to maintain professionalism in a highly confidential environment and to deal with all visitors with tact, diplomacy and warmth.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, results-oriented, flexible, and able to work well under pressure.
  • A university or college degree in Human Resources or a related field is an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of United States employment law is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills with particular attention to detail and a self-starter mindset.
  • Ability to embrace the Fairmont brand promise and luxury in the role and interactions.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to varied colleague inquiries in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Assist eligible colleagues with employee benefits.
  • Share and communicate celebrations of colleagues’ accomplishments.
  • Assist with employee communications, including hotel happenings, internal training schedules, and social media.
  • Maintain the daily administrative flow and documents in accordance with brand and hotel policies, while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Prioritize phone calls and in-person visitors and provide timely follow-up.
  • Assist with all areas of the recruitment process.
  • Maintain accurate employee records across related data systems, including biweekly payroll, benefits, and monthly reporting.
  • Coordinate new employee paperwork and onboarding administration.
  • Administer new-hire orientation as directed by the People & Culture Manager and Director.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment and participate in ongoing safety programs.
  • Process workers’ compensation claims and manage short-term and long-term disability requests.
  • Assist in maintaining high levels of employee satisfaction and team spirit.
  • Support hotel committees and organize colleague functions, including town halls, diversity, equity, and inclusion events, recognition events, celebration events, and the annual colleague holiday party.
  • Assist with other operations of the People & Culture office as needed.
