- No prior experience is required.
- One of the listed professional laboratory licenses or certifications is required, including an eligible Medical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or equivalent state or professional credential.
- The role requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 0–25 pounds; frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot, leg, hand, and arm movements; frequent near and far vision, color identification, hearing, speech, and keyboard use; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and handling objects weighing 25–50 pounds; and rare climbing.
- Perform a full range of laboratory tests, from simple blood tests to complex tests.
- Interpret test reports and communicate findings to physicians.
- Escalate unusual, critical, or abnormal results.
- Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments.
- Perform and evaluate quality-control procedures.
- Maintain equipment and reagent accuracy through established preventive-maintenance procedures.
- Assist providers in choosing appropriate laboratory tests.
- Evaluate new testing methods.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments.
- Assist with proper storage of hazardous materials.
- Maintain competencies and continuing education to stay informed of developments in the field.
- Assist in the laboratory proficiency-testing program.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other assigned duties.
