Requirements
  • Working towards a degree in wildlife biology, biology, or related field
  • Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.
Responsibilities
  • Weigh and prepare bat hair samples.
  • Perform acid digestion.
  • Analyze samples for heavy metal concentrations using Total X-Ray Fluorescence (TXRF) spectrometry.
  • Support graduate student research on the impacts of heavy metal contamination on bats in the Black Hills, South Dakota.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with lab work techniques such as pipetting and safety training for working with corrosive acids.
