Requirements
  • Five to seven years of prior experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Advanced designation such as Certified Insurance Counselor, Certified Risk Manager, Associate in Risk Management, or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter is preferred.
  • A Property Casualty Resident's License is required.
  • Annual continuing education is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in managing a book of business through its annual life cycle, including new business, customer service, renewal strategy, and delegation to junior team members.
  • Advanced application of prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Advanced project management skills, including delegation.
  • Strong carrier relationships with field representatives, marketing, and underwriting.
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance products, lines, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to explain how products are utilized and administered to clients and team members.
  • Current knowledge of trends and regulations.
  • Advanced application of available tools and resources.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
Responsibilities
  • Use the agency management system for navigation and delegation of tasks to team members.
  • Conduct initial rate negotiations for renewals and competitive quotes.
  • Organize responses and present them to the client team or producer for review.
  • Escalate complex negotiations to the client team or producer when appropriate.
  • Direct and manage the client team on strategy, client deliverables, and meeting client expectations, including proposals, stewardship, meetings, and special projects.
  • Develop positive working relationships with clients in coordination with the client team.
  • Communicate with leadership levels across client organizations, including office managers, controllers, safety directors, chief executive officers, chief client officers, and chief financial officers.
  • Inform the client team of significant changes relating to clients or carriers.
  • Lead client teams in renewal strategy meetings in conjunction with the producer.
  • Execute or delegate deliverables to the client team and manage task completion.
  • Assist other senior client managers during high-volume periods as needed.
  • Prepare client presentations and develop meeting agendas.
  • Attend client meetings and lead portions of them as directed by the producer.
  • Coordinate with the client team and subject matter experts, including loss control, communications, and claims, to obtain applicable resources.
  • Participate in new business proposal presentations at the producer's direction.
  • Participate in internal and external renewal strategy meetings.
  • Perform renewal exposure analysis.
  • Send submissions to the market or rate them online.
  • Perform non-admitted carrier due diligence in accordance with state rules.
  • Perform premium, rate, and coverage comparisons.
  • Negotiate with insurance markets.
  • Generate and update fee agreements.
  • Finalize proposals and present them to clients.
  • Send bind orders to carriers.
  • Receive binders from carriers and transmit MMA binders to clients.
  • Perform renewal premium allocation.
  • Order endorsements and coverage changes from carriers.
  • Perform audit reviews and address discrepancies.
  • Provide complex contract review.

  • An advanced degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Advanced understanding of tools such as Reference Connect, Playbook, and MMA U.
  • Intermediate understanding of advanced tools such as Loss Forecaster, CAT Modeling, and Mod Master.
