New Jersey casino revenue sees slight growth in Q2 despite profitfall. August 25, 2026 Stable revenue amid profit declines in New Jersey's casino sector. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has released its report on the state's casino industry performance for the second quarter of 2026. While casino revenue remained relatively steady, there was a significant drop in overall profit during this period. Financial overview for Q2 and H1 2026. The casinos licensed in New Jersey collectively generated net revenues totaling $844.5 million in Q2, marking a modest 0.9% increase compared to the same quarter last year. However, gross operating profit took a downturn, falling by 10.1% to $164.9 million. Looking at the first half (H1) of 2026, the figures reflected a similar trend: net revenues edged up slightly by 0.2% to $1.57 billion, whereas gross operating profit dropped more sharply by 15.5%, reaching $269.6 million. In addition, the occupancy rate for casino hotel rooms increased to 73.2% in Q2, up 0.6% from the previous year. Tables were especially beneficent, up 10%, while slots kept 6% more. But it's small wonder that Bally's Corp. buried its 2Q26 earnings in a Friday-evening news dump: Bally's Atlantic City sank 13.5% to $12 million and last place. (Bally's didn't talk about the Chicago slowdown either, although it alluded to signing a letter of intent with a potential investor for $4 billion Bally's Bronx, news you'd think Soo Kim would want to trumpet.) What's more, Bally's A.C. was the only revenue-negative casino on the Boardwalk last month and not by a little. As for the other grind joints, Golden Nugget was up 3.5% to $13.5 million, while Resorts Atlantic City was flat at $17 million. Caesars Atlantic City had a spectacular month, leaping 34.5% to $25.5 million, outdistancing its Caesars Entertainment fellows. Harrah's Resort (where a dead body was found last week) climbed 8% to $22 million while Tropicana Atlantic City hopped 2% to $23.5 million. Also having a heckuva month was Ocean Casino Resort, vaulting 21% to $52 million. But it didn't knock off Hard Rock Atlantic City's $57.5 million, a 4% gain. Of course, Borgata was tops, reaping $81.5 million for a 2% uptick. Garden State iGaming revenues jumped 12%, led by FanDuel's $61.5 million. DraftKings was close behind at $60.5 million, while BetMGM did $57 million. The only major operator to slump was Caesars Palace Online, at $21.5 million. That was still more than good enough for fourth place, comfortably ahead of Fanatics ($13.5 million), BetRivers ($11.5 million) and Hollywood Casino ($4 million). Sports bettors must have put their money on Lionel Messi and Argentina in the World Cup final, as sports book results were a dramatic reversal from an extremely player-friendly June. Punters lost 29% more, to drive $97 million in win on handle of $816 million (up 23%). With $34 million, FanDuel was tops again, trailed by DraftKings and its $25.5 million. Bunched together were Fanatics ($10.5 million) and BetMGM ($10 million), while the remainder was policed up largely by Caesars Sportsbook ($3 million), theScore Bet ($1.5 million) and BetRivers ($1 million). He reports, "They are from the Gary Loveman era, so cheap that the decal paint washes off quickly." That's its Gary, sparing every customer-facing expense while he cashes out on the company. That big revenue surge at Ocean Casino Resort is all the more impressive when one considers what happened on July 27. That is to say, the place caught fire. Says its man, "Officials said the fire produced heavy smoke and burning debris. Firefighters then began suppression operations and successfully contained and extinguished the fire, according to officials. During those efforts, a significant water release caused heavy water flow throughout portions of the property. Officials said the water intrusion caused a large ceiling collapse in the lobby and affected elevator shafts and back-of-house hallways." In other words, not your ordinary linen-closet blaze. However, Ocean was back on its feet by July 30. True, the Avila Players Club lounge was still closed and the 11th-floor hotel lobby had been inundated. Its bureau chief sensed something amiss: "The 'mystery' is why is the 7th-floor Avila lounge is closed if the water damage is on the 11th floor? Could be an indication of more damage than was disclosed. I'm guessing that Ocean Casino's August revenue will be much lower. One person already told me they won't go there." ... nor are they likely to be buying casino memorabilia online. Evidently Atlantic City-themed merch doesn't move. A recent exception in one eBay store was a Trump Taj Mahal ice bucket (well, they won't be making any more of those). Speaking of ex-Trump properties, the remnants of Trump Plaza have evidently been unloaded by Carl Icahn. Mayor Marty Small (D) asserts that there is a buyer but who say who or how much they paid or even what the intended use is for what Las Vegas Advisor used to fondly call "Trump Dump," back when it was the lowest-grossing casino on the Boardwalk. The word "implosion" comes to mind. Veering away from Atlantic City and into nearby Pennsylvania, Las Vegas Advisor has some news from Wind Creek Bethlehem. The former Sheldon Adelson casino hasn't missed a step since Las Vegas Sands (now with 100% less America!) unloaded it to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. The latter's recent entertainment program hasn't been too shabby. Las Vegas Advisor is reliably informed it includes Rascal Flatts, Diana Ross, Gabriel Iglesias, Alice Cooper, Theresa Caputo, Wynonna Judd, etc. Also, while Las Vegas Advisor always were under the impression that Wind Creek was a glorified grind house for bused-in players, it has been reported to have the highest table-game win of any Keystone State casino. Not doing so well is Hollywood Penn National, where the grandstand is supposed to be near-empty during horse races. (Like Penn Entertainment really cares.) And Hollywood York is alleged to be sucking all the life out of the shopping mall it was meant to rescue. Penn giveth, Penn taketh away. Wise Guys. In an astute move, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas has inked a deal with veteran casino executive/regulator/pundit Richard Schuetz (above) and gambling historian par excellence David G. Schwartz, biographer of Jay Sarno. This dynamic duo will be interviewing 10 as-yet-unnamed, veteran Nevada bookies, for inclusion in UNLV's oral-history collection. Fire and water damage suspend gaming at Ocean Casino Resort. Posted on: Jul 28, 2026 Last Updated: Jul 28, 2026 Expertise: US Gaming, European Gaming Industry, iGaming ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.: Ocean Casino Resort suspended all gambling Monday after a fire and burst pipe damaged gaming support systems. Slots, table games and sports betting were unavailable for the day. The hotel remained open at limited capacity, while restaurants, pools and other amenities continued operating. No injuries were reported following the early-morning incident. Fire and water damage affect Casino systems. Atlantic City firefighters responded to the resort at approximately 5:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a fire inside a linen room. Crews extinguished the blaze, which remains under investigation. A water pipe burst while firefighters were responding, sending water through several areas of the property. The resulting damage affected hallways, elevator shafts and back-of-house areas, while part of the lobby ceiling collapsed. Ocean Casino Resort said the water affected systems needed to support its gaming operations. The property consequently suspended its slot machines, live table games and sportsbook for Monday. The resort also canceled a $30,000 slot tournament scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Avila Lounge temporarily moved its service to the property's TopGolf facility. Hotel and resort amenities remain available. The disruption did not result in a complete closure of Ocean Casino Resort. Hotel operations continued at limited capacity, while guests retained access to restaurants, swimming pools and other nongaming amenities. The resort advised customers of the service changes through its website and social media accounts. It said further updates would be issued as crews assessed the damage and restored the affected systems. Fire officials reported no injuries among guests, employees or emergency personnel. The extent of the water damage and the cost of repairs were not immediately disclosed.
