Requirements
  • 15 years of experience in aerospace engineering roles, including at least 10 years of experience in civil aviation certification programs
  • Extensive first-hand experience preparing Certification Engineering deliverables (e.g. Means of Compliance, Certification Plans, Issue Paper responses)
  • Significant first-hand experience interacting with civil aviation regulators as a certification applicant
  • Expert knowledge of one or more civil aviation regulation standards (e.g. 14 CFR Parts 23, 25, 27, or 29)
  • Expert knowledge of the FAA certification process
  • Expert written and verbal technical communication
  • General knowledge of civil aircraft development and all associated Engineering disciplines
  • Ability to lead and coordinate content creation and issue resolution involving diverse groups of technical experts
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery system development and/or certification
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent field
Responsibilities
  • Preparing and updating documentation for Archer Certification Engineering deliverables (e.g. Means of Compliance, Certification Plans)
  • Leading the resolution and response to regulatory issues (e.g. Issue Papers) including coordinating with the affected engineering disciplines to investigate and resolve the issues and drafting or reviewing Archer technical positions and responses
  • Overseeing and reviewing Certification Engineering deliverables prepared by the battery engineering department, ensuring quality and consistency in Archer’s certification data
  • Participating in in-person or virtual meetings with regulatory authorities to present Archer technical positions and to negotiate issue resolution
  • Supporting certification test plan development and test execution at on-site and off-site facilities
