Requirements
  • Five years of related experience in the maintenance and operation of complex building system infrastructure.
  • Experience installing, operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing commercial building heating and cooling systems.
  • A current State HVAC license or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Experience and knowledge of making scheduling and setpoint adjustments in the Siemens system.
  • Basic proficiency with Windows-based software applications.
  • Proficiency with electronic mail, Microsoft Office, and related desktop and handheld devices and applications.
  • Compliance with standard safety codes and practices and recognized trade and University standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed plans, specifications, operating manuals, and other written materials associated with the trade.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and customers.
  • Familiarity with smartphone technology and willingness to use handheld devices as required.
  • Ability to supply a complete set of hand tools.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and transport piping and equipment exceeding 200 pounds with others.
  • Ability to push and pull heavy loads, stoop and bend for extended periods, work on hands and knees, routinely walk between buildings carrying tools and equipment, climb stairs, and work on ladders, staging, and lifts.
Responsibilities
  • Provide initial response, triage, stabilization, and/or repair for building infrastructure maintenance requests, with emphasis on HVAC systems.
  • Inspect, adjust, modify, and repair boilers, heating systems, cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Interpret and update mechanical plans and prints as necessary.
  • Monitor, query, and report on the status of building systems managed by DDC technology.
  • Initiate follow-up actions as required.
  • Provide responsive customer support throughout building maintenance and operations.
  • Assist and advise customers on maintenance solutions and provide follow-up on work progress and status.
  • Perform core trade skills and related duties as required.
  • Work independently or as part of a multi-trade team under the guidance of the Area Supervisor and/or Working Foreperson.
  • Wear appropriate safety clothing and equipment and properly wear the required uniform.
  • Provide on-site support during emergency situations as determined by management.
