Requirements
  • A Clinical Documentation Professional credential from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists obtained before the hire date or job transfer date.
  • A high school diploma equivalency with two years of cumulative experience, an associate's or bachelor's degree with one year of experience, or five years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary resource for urgent clinical documentation integrity issues, including payer denials, audits, and diagnosis-related group validation.
  • Address immediate system needs such as high denial rates, quality issues, and new coding rules.
  • Mentor front-line clinical documentation specialists on complex cases, query framing, and escalation.
  • Analyze documentation and coding data for trends and improvement.
  • Lead and ensure compliance of strategic clinical documentation integrity initiatives across markets and systems.
  • Evaluate strategic results and recommend implementation pathways.
  • Support strategic initiatives, facilitate rapid-cycle audits, and investigate documentation and coding anomalies in real time.
  • Drive accurate documentation, coding integrity, and risk-adjustment capture while supporting training, compliance, and data-driven decision-making.
