Requirements
  • A minimum high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in commercial lending is required.
  • Knowledge of credit union consumer and commercial products, services, policies, and procedures is required.

Responsibilities
  • Originate and administer a portfolio of commercial loans while maintaining credit quality, increasing profitability, and producing loan and deposit growth.
  • Attend to the needs of commercial members and perform other job-related duties as needed.
  • Attend and establish networking opportunities to grow the credit union’s membership base and assets.
  • Call on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the credit union’s membership base and assets.
  • Research and collect background documentation and review personal and business financial statements and tax returns.
  • Analyze financial information to determine whether a request is a good fit for the credit union.
  • Structure loans.
  • Identify and communicate points of exposure on current loans and possible solutions.
  • Work with the Commercial Analyst to analyze financials and prepare loan presentations when applicable.
  • Present loan applications for review by the loan committee or the appropriate approval level as needed or directed.
  • Attend loan committee meetings prepared to answer questions on assigned credits.
  • Handle incoming branch referrals, generally above $250,000.
  • Meet regularly with existing borrowers to ensure their needs are met, sales opportunities are captured, and loan risk is understood.
  • Perform periodic reviews of credits requiring more frequent monitoring.
  • Monitor clients in the assigned portfolio to identify deteriorating credit conditions and compliance with loan agreements.
  • Monitor high-risk loans through established procedures.
  • Ensure renewals are completed promptly to avoid administrative past-due accounts.
  • Ensure annual reviews are completed promptly and loans in the portfolio are properly risk-graded.
  • Provide training and coaching to branches on business development, lending services, and related topics.
  • Provide training and support to branches on commercial deposits to grow the credit union’s membership base and assets.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior commercial lenders.
  • Provide training at the administrative location as part of the credit union’s training program.
  • Handle incoming calls and questions about loan and business-related issues.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control requirements.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other duties supporting effective department operations.
