Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or 5+ years of experience with a Master of Science or Master of Business Administration in a relevant discipline
  • Relevant experience typically includes contract negotiation and/or clinical finance
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft products, Enterprise systems and report writing
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of regulatory and legal issues pertinent to clinical development (Contracts)
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of the regulatory implications of contracts as related to clinical research (Finance)
  • Academic level is bachelor’s degree or higher
Responsibilities
  • Manage highly complex study budgets and forecast spend by expenditure type across numerous items such as standard of care treatment issues, comparator drug, background medications, specialty labs, imaging vendors and biomarkers, as well as long study durations and enrollment challenges
  • Serve as a resource in clinical team meetings
  • Perform autonomous contracting and financial support responsibilities with little or no supervision
  • Review the work of junior Clinical Contracts and Finance staff and share knowledge on Ex-US contracting requirements
  • Manage multiple projects across therapeutic areas and interact cross-functionally
  • Manage and complete complex to non-routine clinical contracts and finance processes
  • Supervise other staff contributing to clinical finance or contract production
  • May focus on both contracts and finance areas of clinical operations based on business need
  • Manage contract activities for multiple clinical development programs ensuring adequate staff with skills to complete site and CRO contracts accurately, consistently and timely
  • Assist other Clinical Contracts and Finance staff in resolving moderately complex issues relating to contract negotiation or management
  • Train Clinical Contracts and Finance staff in contract budgeting, development, and administration
  • Develop spreadsheets, tracking tools and reports
  • Manage vendor relationships in conjunction with Clinical Operations, Bioanalytical Chemistry or Biometrics groups
  • Work with internal customers on vendor bidding and proposal development (RFP creation and analysis) and contract management
  • Assist with vendor presentation preparation and may manage Vendor bid defense meetings
  • With Legal department support, manage the contract negotiation process especially for more complex or high value contracts
  • Lead contract life cycle management process related to vendor, government, and collaborative agreements
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of clinical research functions and regulatory and legal issues pertinent to clinical development (Contracts)
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the regulatory implications of contracts as related to clinical research (Finance)
  • Travel may be required
