  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFA): Strong understanding of how to influence product design for cost-effective, scalable, and reliable assembly
  • Hands-on experience working with products that combine mechanical systems, electronics, and software integration
  • Fixture and tooling design: Experience designing and validating custom fixtures, jigs, and tools to support repeatable, ergonomic, and efficient processes
  • Manufacturing process validation: Deep knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, process capability (Cp/Cpk), and statistical process control (SPC)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD Software (Siemens NX preferred)
  • Proficient in writing SOPs, work instructions, and process flow documents
  • Familiar with statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP, Excel) for analyzing yield, process capability, and production trends
  • MES/ERP systems: Experience with manufacturing execution systems and resource planning software to manage production data and operations
  • Skilled at identifying root causes and rapidly implementing sustainable corrective actions in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work with design, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to deliver manufacturing outcomes

  • Own tooling and fixture development, from concept through fabrication, installation, and validation, to support scalable and repeatable manufacturing
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, reduce cycle time, and lower production costs (e.g., lean manufacturing, automation, poka-yoke)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, working cross-functionally with quality, design, and maintenance teams to implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Support ramp-up of new products and manufacturing lines, coordinating cross-functional activities to ensure smooth transitions from development to production
  • Track and analyze manufacturing performance metrics, including first-pass yield, throughput, downtime, and cost of poor quality, to drive data-informed decisions
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior manufacturing engineers and technicians, sharing best practices and reviewing designs and process approaches

Zipline designs, builds, and operates autonomous delivery networks using two drone platforms: P1 fixed-wing drones for long-range, centralized deliveries with parachute drops, and P2 hover-drones for precise home deliveries. It provides end-to-end service, from drones and hubs to software and logistics, under government and enterprise contracts, earning revenue per delivery or per distribution center. The system enables zero-emission, instant logistics for medical supplies and consumer goods across multiple countries, with partners like Walmart and GNC. The goal is fast, reliable, scalable delivery that expands access to essential items, especially healthcare, through a fully integrated global network.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Walmart and Chipotle validate consumer delivery beyond healthcare logistics.
  • Africa expansions add livestock, HIV care, and broader government contract revenue.
  • New sites reaching 100 daily deliveries in two days shows strong deployment efficiency.

What critics are saying

  • Low-margin retail partnerships can pressure economics if Walmart demands cheaper delivery.
  • Consumer adoption remains unproven outside novelty-driven early access and small service radii.
  • A U.S. safety incident could trigger tighter FAA scrutiny and partner pullback.

What makes Zipline unique

  • Zipline operates vertically integrated autonomous delivery networks, not just drones.
  • Platform 2 enables quiet, precise suburban doorstep delivery for retail partners.
  • Its national-scale medical logistics footprint provides unmatched regulatory and operational experience.

Zipline raises $600M at $7.6B valuation, surpasses 2M deliveries and expands to Houston and Phoenix

Zipline, an American robotics company operating the world's largest autonomous delivery system, has raised over $600 million and is now valued at $7.6 billion. The company has surpassed two million commercial deliveries and will expand to Houston and Phoenix in early 2026, with additional metros following later in the year. Zipline's US deliveries have grown approximately 15% week-over-week for seven months. The service delivers food, retail and healthcare products in as little as 10 minutes, with a median flight time of three minutes. New sites now reach 100 deliveries per day in just two days, compared to 10 weeks for the company's first Dallas location. The company exceeded its Q3 daily delivery volume target by 30% and reached its Q4 target six weeks early.
