Requirements
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Knowledge or experience in commercial laundry procedures and the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • Ability to follow instructions and provide day-to-day feedback.
  • Familiarity with standard sewing and mending techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper linen care and stain removal.
  • Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with collecting and sorting soiled personal clothing and linens and pre-treat stains as required.
  • Load and unload washers and dryers, ensuring proper settings are used and chemical supplies are at an appropriate level.
  • Inspect soiled linens or personal laundry and complete required repairs, including rips, tears, and buttons.
  • Fold, segregate, stack, and iron linens and residents' clothing as required.
  • Deliver linens and clothing to appropriate areas.
  • Adhere to established facility policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices.
  • Complete documentation as required according to facility policy and job routines.
  • Respect and promote Resident Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Attend in-service training as required to better serve residents' needs.
  • Attend staff meetings as required to remain aware of changes in the residence.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
  • Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in the Code of Conduct.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
