Responsibilities
  • Maintain basic knowledge of First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and applicable regulatory issues, including the Bank Secrecy Act, privacy requirements, fair lending, Regulation E, and deposit, transaction, and loan accounts.
  • Follow proper procedures accurately and efficiently for all customer-service activities.
  • Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
  • Serve as customers' single point of contact for First United Bank products and services.
  • Meet or exceed performance goals, participate in sales campaigns, promote new products and services, and educate customers and peers within the bank.
  • Participate in meetings, bank functions, and customer appreciation or community events as requested or assigned.
  • Meet customer-service expectations by greeting customers, using their names, building rapport, and generating customer loyalty.
  • Identify and match customer product needs with First United Bank products and services by interviewing customers and discussing their financial needs, including making referrals to other staff members and departments.
  • Open new accounts, certificates of deposit, and other ancillary bank products; answer customer questions; provide account-opening information; and complete and enter required paperwork into the computer system.
  • Assist customers with balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, automated clearing house transactions, automatic funds transfers, direct deposits, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy matters.
  • Process customer transactions quickly and accurately according to bank policies and procedures, including checks for cash and deposit, money orders, savings bonds, traveler's checks, cashier's checks, loan payments, and other service payments.
  • Maintain appropriate drawer limits, perform cash verifications, and perform vault duties.
  • Verify transactions, place holds when appropriate, and prove the cash drawer at the end of the assigned shift; seek assistance to resolve proof discrepancies.
  • Proactively resolve customer complaints, problems, and other issues.
  • Review and resolve account issues listed in insufficient and exception reports daily, including assisting customers with account charge-off repayment plans.
  • Perform security functions by opening and closing the bank and vault and ensuring the safety and security of bank grounds.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including working in other areas to cover absences or balance the workload.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma is strongly preferred.
  • Some college education is strongly preferred.
  • One year of retail experience is preferred.
  • Cash handling experience is preferred.
