Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • For assignment to a Title I school, meet the employment requirements outlined by the Every Student Succeeds Act and have either six documented semester hours of coursework in childhood education or two years of work experience in a childhood setting.
  • Possess considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Google Apps.
  • Possess working knowledge of successful instructional delivery methods and the core subjects at the assigned grade level.
  • Be able to support students with diverse backgrounds, learning abilities, and learning styles.
  • Be able to protect the confidentiality of personally identifiable information in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Be able to implement academic and behavioral interventions as needed.
  • Be able to supervise the safety and well-being of students and establish effective working relationships with school staff, students, parents, businesses, community agencies, and the public.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form using varied communication techniques and tools.
  • Work may require maintaining Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification, with training provided through the school system.
Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers with classroom activities and general administrative support tasks.
  • Implement goals and objectives established by licensed teachers and work directly with students.
  • Assist with instruction for individual students or groups of students in all curricular areas as directed by teachers or administrators.
  • Plan and collaborate with teachers to devise strategies for reinforcing skills and concepts based on individual students' needs.
  • Assist with activities and duties implementing the total school program and help maintain an encouraging, caring, safe, and healthy environment for students.
  • Aid teachers with planning and organizing, evaluating instructional activities, developing classroom procedures, and preparing lesson materials.
  • Work with individual students or specific groups of students in other classrooms or school areas as needed.
  • Participate in district staff development and continued professional growth related to the assignment.
  • Perform vision and hearing screenings when required and enter results into the Electronic Access Student Information System.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
