About the position:

As a key member of the Stellar Finance Team, this role will be responsible for managing the payroll for a 200+ organization. Our employee base is complex and we have teammates across the US. In this role, you will be required to ensure that our payroll practices are compliant with state-by-state wage and hour regulations. Your day-to-day will focus on ensuring employees are paid on time and correctly. You’ll be the first contact for any employees who have questions about their pay and work through any challenges that crop up with payroll.

What you’ll do:

Work in partnership with the People and Finance Teams to manage our company payroll end to end. Outside of making sure our employees are paid on time, this role will also help manage processes related to tracking bonuses, compensation changes, benefits enrollments, our 401k program, and other key aspects of compensation/benefits.

As a Payroll Lead, you should have:

At least 2-5+ years of experience in Finance or Human Resources, with the majority of this experience in payroll
Experience managing salaried and hourly payrolls is a must
Experience managing payroll for the Tri-State area, as well as other states across the US, is required
Experience with set up and ongoing management of state unemployment and tax accounts is required as well as experience researching and resolving tax notices for federal, state and local tax agencies
Excellent Excel and data entry skills, demonstrated by the ability to manage and manipulate large sets of compensation data
High attention to detail; you have excellent QA skills and a solid process for making sure your work is correct
Experience supporting month-end close by preparing payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations
Patience and integrity
Genuine interest in this role

Pay:

The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 and will be eligible for an equity grant and an annual performance based bonus. Where a new hire falls within this range will be based on their individual skills and experience, and how these competencies compare across other employees in the same role. Stellar’s bands are designed to allow for individual compensation growth within the role. As such, new hires typically start at the lower end of the range. Stellar rewards performance and outcomes - should you join the company, you will have the opportunity to grow your salary over time.
