Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Safety/ Fire Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.
  • Must be a subject matter expert in Fire Protection & Fire Safety Engineering.
  • Experience of operating in a ‘business partner’ role as the primary point of contact on Fire Safety across a substantial geography / portfolio.
  • Deep understanding and proficiency in relation to risk, assurance and other similar concepts.
  • Able to understand stakeholder challenges from their perspective and engage in ‘win-win’ conversations.
  • Experience of Project Management with the ability to define, coordinate and execute projects, manage complex data and identify pragmatic solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Act as subject matter expert for Fire Brand Safety Standards within the Safety & Security (S&S) Team, taking responsibility for actively identifying external insight that could drive review or improvement of IHGs arrangements.
  • Partner with the business and support with the implementation of applicable requirements and risk management practices; ensure compliance with IHG requirements and/or identify alternative risk management solutions (Alternative means of compliance).
  • Proactively support the wider S&S team and BRR community to build capability within the region on fire safety & fire engineering, including the development of relevant tools, resources and training materials.
  • Develop and implement robust assurance processes to verify and monitor levels of implementation of applicable fire safety requirements.
  • Provide proactive support to identify & respond to fire safety issues, including incident investigation into fire safety events (where required) within the AMER portfolio.
  • Work as part of a wider network of Fire Safety Engineers within the S&S Team to establish global ways of working and ensure consistency of approach across the wider IHG business.
  • Act as a key interface between BRR and key internal stakeholders, including Hotel Lifecycle Growth (HLG), Operations and Leadership teams on matters of fire safety.
  • Support the active management of suppliers of Fire Safety support services, such as fire engineering consultants/ Technical Advisory Organizations.
  • Provide wider project and program support to initiatives covered under the Brand Safety Standards Program which may expand beyond fire safety.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the hotel, hospitality, events, retail or similar ‘property heavy’ or Real Estate sectors is desirable.
