Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field is required.
  • Experience and knowledge of high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and wet chemistry procedures are required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory systems for reference standards, chemical inventory, calibrations, volumetric solution preparation and expiration, notebook documentation standards, calculations, and reporting standards is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
  • The employee must demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity in laboratory testing and documentation.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and non-routine analytical quality control analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and stability samples in compliance with current good manufacturing practices, corporate standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform testing according to compendia or vendor methodology on raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and stability samples according to specifications and procedural and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate laboratory instruments, including high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, pH meters, and Karl Fischer instruments.
  • Read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures, raw material specifications, validation instructions, test sheets, company policies, and processes.
  • Write or review standard operating procedures, methods, laboratory investigations, equipment, and software installation qualification and operational qualification documents.
  • Document laboratory work according to current good manufacturing practice and regulatory standards with accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform data review on daily calibration checks, equipment maintenance, and solution preparations.
  • Train new Analytical Chemist I employees on methods and instrumentation.
  • Perform other tasks as requested or assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in a pharmaceutical and/or current good manufacturing practice laboratory is preferred.
