Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited or approved school of practical nursing.
  • Hold a current license to practice practical nursing in North Carolina.
  • Maintain required CPR certification.
  • Have at least one year of practical nursing experience.
  • Communicate effectively and be literate in English.
  • Develop positive interactions with patients, patients’ families, physicians, and staff.
  • Assess patient conditions, formulate plans of care, select interventions, evaluate responses to care or treatment, and teach patients about their conditions and recovery.
  • Prioritize duties, learn new patient-care skills and techniques, and use supportive services.
  • Handle patient-care equipment and safely transfer and guard patients.
  • Transfer or maneuver objects weighing at least 50 pounds and frequently push, move, lift, position, bathe, and ambulate patients.
  • Visually assess patients and use sight to implement and evaluate plans of care, including changing dressings, performing phlebotomy, regulating intravenous equipment, and monitoring equipment readouts.
  • Use hearing to auscultate lung and bowel sounds, hear alarms, and communicate effectively.
  • Work variable Monday–Friday hours and holidays as needed.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and an operational vehicle.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care according to each patient’s age and diagnosis.
  • Provide nursing care to patients in their homes, including administering medications, wound care, and other treatments.
  • Assist the registered nurse with implementing plans of care for patients across adult and geriatric populations.
  • Assist with patient-care management in coordination with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate information in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and discipline-specific guidelines.
  • Monitor patient conditions, report changes to the care team, and assist in developing personalized care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on health management, medications, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to support quality patient care.
  • Contribute to program effectiveness.
  • Organize and perform work effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain and adjust schedules to enhance agency performance.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and demonstrate the agency’s mission, vision, and values.

With locations in Wilmington, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, and Myrtle Beach, the organization serves more than 45 counties and a patient census of approximately 5,000. In this role, Sheila Ellison will lead the strategic direction of technology across the Home Health and Hospice agency, ensuring alignment with clinical, financial, and regulatory priorities. She will oversee the organization's managed services partnership, drive digital transformation initiatives, and ensure strong data security and compliance to support continued growth and high-quality patient care. Sheila is a great placement as the new Vice President of IT. Sheila Ellison brings extensive experience in healthcare technology and digital transformation.
