Requirements
  • Must have completed an accredited Nursing training program leading to a diploma, certification, or bachelor’s degree
  • Must have completed an accredited Nurse Anesthetist school in the U.S., resulting in a master’s degree or higher
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed Nurse Anesthetist
  • Must hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) Medical license as a Nurse Anesthetist
  • Must hold a current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
  • Must have and maintain current certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year
  • Must be current in all required certifications
  • Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the Acuity Medical Management Systems software
  • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English
  • Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense
  • Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA
Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations, patient interviews, and document results
  • Develops, recommends, and implements standard operating instructions and practices of the administration and management of anesthetics that ensure client safety, confidentiality, and timely ethical and quality service
  • Select and prescribe post-anesthesia medications or treatments to patients
  • Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients' cardiovascular systems
  • Evaluate patients' post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur
  • Monitors the effects of specific anesthesia, drugs, techniques, and patient reactions
  • Select, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications, anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, or blood products as necessary
  • Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care
  • Perform or evaluate the results of diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs)
  • Manage patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation
  • Monitor patients' responses, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output, using invasive and noninvasive techniques
  • Assess patient's medical histories to predict anesthesia response
  • Select, prepare, or use equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics. Calibrate and test anesthesia equipment
  • Insert arterial catheters or perform arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples
  • Insert peripheral or central intravenous catheters
  • Instruct staff on topics such as anesthetic techniques, pain management, and emergency responses
  • Request anesthesia equipment repairs, adjustments, or safety tests
  • Maintains continuing education activities
  • Comply with all applicable Acuity International standards and guidelines
  • Participate and advise in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events
  • All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow-up care required
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge of new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements
  • Be available for on-call duties as required, responding promptly to emergencies and providing care as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is highly desirable
