Requirements
  • One year of housekeeping experience.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching, bending, and operating floor equipment including vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, and buffers.
  • Ability to meet the Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts based on hospital operational needs.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
  • Understanding of assigned areas and the necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow written work assignments.
  • Ability to complete annual education related to specialty accreditation requirements where applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor housekeeping activities in assigned areas to ensure proper cleaning, servicing, stocking of supplies, completion of work schedules, and compliance with supervisory instructions, reporting problems as necessary.
  • Perform housekeeping duties including sweeping, dusting, polishing, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
  • Ensure supplies, materials, and equipment are available in assigned work areas and report equipment malfunctions to a supervisor.
  • Report repair needs for equipment, furniture, buildings, and fixtures.
  • Assist in training employees in proper cleaning techniques and use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Work in environments with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and cleaning chemicals.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
