Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field e.g. Computer engineering, quantum computing.
  • 5+ years experience in (classical or quantum) computer architecture and/or design.
  • 5+ years experience in developing and using theoretical models to predict performance of a complex system.
  • Familiarity with compiler development
  • A PhD in a relevant field
  • 5+ years experience in industry
  • Experience with quantum computing or quantum information theory
  • Experience with classical computing architecture
  • Working familiar with concepts involving communication between devices (e.g. multi-core computation, von Neumann bottleneck etc.)
  • Track record of innovative problem solving
Responsibilities
  • Develop architectural concepts for IonQ’s next generation quantum computers.
  • Initiate design analysis cycles and trade studies in order to provide data for decisions
  • Map between architectural concepts and product level requirements in order to develop engineering requirements.
  • Develop models and run trade studies
  • Disseminate results using reports, memos and presentations.

IonQ is developing quantum computers using a trapped-ion approach, focusing on leveraging unmatched physical performance, perfect qubit replication, optical networkability, and highly-optimized algorithms to create scalable and powerful quantum computing technology. This technology has the potential to support applications such as direct carbon sequestration, better battery materials, improved drug discovery, and quantum machine learning.
