Requirements
  • Must be at least 15 years old.
  • Must possess American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
  • Must understand and support The Salvation Army’s mission as a church and social services organization.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of one weekend shift per month.
Responsibilities
  • Enforce pool and facility rules to provide a safe environment for members, visitors, and employees.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and maintain constant observation of assigned areas to identify danger.
  • Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions and maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.
  • Provide first aid, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and automated external defibrillator assistance when necessary.
  • Assist with aquatic programming.
  • Inspect and maintain the cleanliness of swimming pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, trash cans, cleaning equipment, aquatic equipment storage areas, and other assigned areas.
  • Set up and break down facility equipment under supervision.
  • Help set up and break down the Swim Meet Timing System under supervision.
  • Test or provide information for required pool documents daily.
  • Communicate with co-workers and customers in person and over the phone.
  • Attend required staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Learn and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Represent The Salvation Army’s mission in actions, programs, trainings, customer relations, and operations.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.
