Requirements
  • Employment by a licensed law enforcement agency.
  • At least one year of law enforcement experience.
  • A current Texas Commission on Law Enforcement license.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential job functions, especially those affecting patient or employee safety and security.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality compliance.
  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office software, and webmail.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks calmly in stressful situations, including exposure to confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate information effectively, identify critical issues quickly and accurately, maintain attention to detail, and document activities.
  • Ability to safely perform assigned duties as demonstrated through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
Responsibilities
  • Protect the rights and property of individuals and provide law enforcement services throughout Houston Methodist.
  • Respond to requests for personal security coverage, directions, information, and guidance.
  • Respond to radio dispatches, calls, and complaints; assess emergent situations and make recommendations as needed.
  • Perform duties in a designated fixed-post assignment.
  • Secure premises and individuals by patrolling facilities, monitoring surveillance cameras, monitoring access points, and permitting entry as needed.
  • Communicate and complete reports documenting occurrences, information, observations, surveillance activities, and witness interviews.
  • Maintain a safe environment while following safety, hazardous-material, emergency-preparedness, and HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training, drills, and actual events according to policies and procedures.
  • Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities and facilitate restitution policies as appropriate.
  • Use and maintain department equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Manage time and prioritize daily tasks independently while using resources efficiently.
  • Promote workplace safety and proactively prevent workplace violence.
  • Support organizational and department goals through participation in department projects, in-service programs, and continuing education.
