- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience as a Patient Care Technician is required.
- Candidates must be able to participate in infection control, risk management, and patient education activities.
- Candidates must be able to obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings during treatment.
- Candidates must be able to set up and break down the dialysis blood system for treatment.
- Candidates must be able to insert and remove patient access needles.
- Candidates must be able to monitor patients during dialysis, document changes, and inform the charge nurse of concerns.
- Candidates must be able to calculate patient weight loss to reach dry weight.
- Candidates must be able to determine patient care priorities and organize workload accordingly.
- Candidates must be able to maintain patient privacy and rights and track inventory.
- Candidates must be able to perform laboratory work.
- Provide care to patients with end-stage renal disease and support clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process.
- Guide new patients through a 120-day education plan.
- Work under registered-nurse supervision.
- Maintain professional working relationships with patients and care teams.
- Perform patient education activities and communicate patient concerns to the charge nurse.
- Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, medical assistant, Certified Nursing Technician, and/or phlebotomy skills are desired.
