Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain an active Department of Defense SECRET security clearance.
  • An Associate Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another related field is required.
  • Three to five years of shipboard hull, mechanical, and electrical experience are required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with naval engineering tracking metrics, technical writing, and system validation procedures is required.
  • Ability to execute physical shipboard surveys or technical documentation audits in accordance with assigned division protocols is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret naval systems instructions, Naval Ships' Technical Manuals, drawings, and other technical documentation is required.
  • Ability to attend Technical Authority Training within three months of hire is required.
  • Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders is required.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Familiarity with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual requirements is required.
  • Ability to use clear and concise oral and written communication is required.
  • Candidacy is subject to customer approval, acceptance, and completion of the required background check.
Responsibilities
  • Process Departures from Specification requirements for depot-level repairs of fleet requests.
  • Review all Departures from Specification requests upon receipt from the Type Commander.
  • Interface with the Type Commander, ship's force, and maintenance team to review Departures from Specification requests.
  • Process Type Commander and ship's force depot-level Departures from Specification requests requiring higher-level adjudication.
  • Monitor and track Departures from Specification requests to ensure timely responses.
  • Communicate on behalf of the customer regarding Departures from Specification needs, including reporting operational limitations that affect key events and milestones for Chief of Naval Operations availabilities.
  • Provide regular status updates to Naval Supervisory Activity regarding related Departures from Specification matters.
