Requirements
  • Seven to ten years of electrical knowledge and experience, with ten years listed under education and experience.
  • Previous electrical or electronic trade experience or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and software used for planning and documentation.
  • Ability to diagnose complex electrical issues and implement efficient, code-compliant solutions.
  • Ability to frequently carry up to 25 pounds and push or pull more than 25 pounds.
  • Availability to work all shifts.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperature conditions as required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 years of age, except where a higher age is required by law.
  • Applicable journeyman licensure requirements.
  • Journey or Master electrician certification or license.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe.
Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Work with high- and low-voltage systems.
  • Fabricate and install wire-way hangers.
  • Install conduit below and above ground.
  • Install cables of assorted sizes and types for lighting, communications, control, power, and electronics.
  • Install terminal boxes, switches, controllers, wiring harnesses, cabinets, and other components for various electrical systems.
  • Install main power switchboards and electrical equipment.
  • Cut in and hook up cables for installed components.
  • Follow the National Electrical Code and local regulations.
  • Oversee job sites, coordinate with other trades, and provide guidance to apprentices and junior electricians.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional education from vocational, technical, or community colleges, or completion of an apprentice program.
  • Potential eligibility for an apprenticeship program in construction laborer, combination welder, electrician, heavy equipment operator, or substation lineman programs.
