Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant quality or manufacturing experience.
  • Four to five years of related experience and/or training in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Ability to work in an office and plant environment and perform keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, and walking.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct internal production, process, and manufacturing quality control audits and risk assessments.
  • Apply Built-In-Quality practices, including Stop capability, writing problem descriptions, sorting nonconformances, providing feedback to the causal area, and conducting root-cause and corrective-action activities.
  • Use data analysis tools, distinguish defect-escape symptoms from causes, apply manufacturing build-acceptance standards, and translate them into Gate checklists that support Stop capability.
  • Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical data and product specifications to determine current standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectations for finished trailers and subassemblies.
  • Formulate and maintain quality-control objectives aligned with corporate policies and goals.
  • Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures, and direct workers performing inspection and testing activities to maintain continuous control over materials, facilities, and finished trailers.
  • Interpret quality-control philosophy for key personnel and coordinate objectives with production procedures and other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Work with vendors to ensure the quality of purchased parts.
  • Investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Compile quality reports and audit plans, communicate audit results to management, and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
  • Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain a quality plan to bring company quality systems and policies into compliance with quality-system requirements.
  • Strategically plan and ensure quality across processes, training, and technology.
