Requirements
- The physician must be licensed in Washington state and hold an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration license.
- The physician must be board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine, or board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with more than two years of emergency-department experience.
- The physician must maintain current Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support certifications.
- The physician must have a minimum of two years of experience as an emergency-department provider.
- The physician must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, delegate, and coordinate through leadership skills.
- The physician must be able to communicate with patients, families, employees, physicians, and staff from diverse backgrounds and with varying educational levels.
- The physician must demonstrate professional behavior and participate in continuing education and continued self-improvement.
- The physician must follow standard precautions and be able to work any shift or day of the week when required.
- The physician must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Responsibilities
- The emergency-department provider provides emergency-department services within the scope of practice of the provider's specialty.
- The provider follows treatment, procedure, and medication guidelines established by hospital policies and state or federal laws.
- The provider maintains confidentiality and works cooperatively, supportively, and respectfully with staff, providers, patients, and families.
- The provider regularly evaluates provider performance and provides constructive feedback and realistic expectations.
- The provider treats a wide variety of emergency-department patients, including pediatric, psychiatric, geriatric, orthopedic, medical, surgical, detoxification, and cardiac patients.
- The provider works in a temperature-controlled environment with potential exposure to biohazardous agents, blood-borne pathogens, and other infectious agents.
- The provider manages varying and unpredictable situations, interruptions, long irregular hours, multiple calls and inquiries, meetings, travel, and nighttime shifts.
