Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5–7 years of experience in facilities operations, building maintenance, or engineering roles, with direct experience managing preventative maintenance programs
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, fire protection, structural)
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE standards, and state/local building codes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MS Project, and CMMS platforms
  • Ability to manage physical work requirements (lifting to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, standing for extended periods)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Technical aptitude to diagnose issues and determine appropriate repair paths, while primarily coordinating execution through vendor partners
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government.
Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and structural systems.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance (PM) program to proactively service and extend the life of all critical building systems and infrastructure.
  • Track PM schedules and performance through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring timely and documented execution of all routine tasks.
  • Identify trends and recurring issues through PM data to improve system reliability and inform capital planning.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and provide status reports on equipment conditions, upcoming maintenance needs, and potential risks.
  • Respond to facilities service requests and emergencies, including after-hours incidents.
  • Ensure all PM tasks meet manufacturer recommendations and comply with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and building codes.
  • Manage small facility improvement and construction projects—including office renovations, lab fit-outs, and equipment upgrades—from planning through execution.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and other service providers to perform scheduled and corrective maintenance.
  • Support the implementation of energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
  • Act as a Health & Safety Liaison during emergency situations (e.g., severe weather, fire, security events).
  • Provide facilities support for DoD secure infrastructure, ensuring classified areas meet operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with other STR sites to standardize and optimize facility practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Security clearance (active or eligible).
  • Experience managing facilities in a DoD secure environment.
  • Project management experience.
