Requirements
- Previous molecular assay development and validation experience
- Expertise in nucleic acid isolation from various biospecimen types
- Expertise in various NGS library preparation methods
- Highly organized and systematic, superb attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy
- Experience managing team members and collaborating with cross-functional groups
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to new processes smoothly
- Ph.D. and 5+ years experience in molecular assay development required
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Scientists and BI analysts to provide partners and collaborators with Tempus NGS test services/results via the selection of the best scientific methods, careful management of each customer project, and “white glove” treatment of testing cohorts
- Support scientific staff through participation in lab activities typical to managing in a start-up environment
- Establish scientific approach and work statements for each project to meet the client objectives and expected outcomes
- Manage the service of client facing projects to include but not limited to:
- Initial discovery studies for solutions to challenging samples or study parameters
- Customization of sample preparation and/or NGS workflows where appropriate
- Processing study cohort specimens in accordance with statements of work and established or custom SOPs
- Provide flexible support for other activities in Tempus-wide R&D and clinical NGS labs including troubleshooting, emerging technology assessment, etc
- Mentor and direct scientific laboratory staff
