Previous molecular assay development and validation experience
Expertise in nucleic acid isolation from various biospecimen types
Expertise in various NGS library preparation methods
Highly organized and systematic, superb attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy
Experience managing team members and collaborating with cross-functional groups
Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to new processes smoothly
Ph.D. and 5+ years experience in molecular assay development required

Responsibilities

Lead a team of Scientists and BI analysts to provide partners and collaborators with Tempus NGS test services/results via the selection of the best scientific methods, careful management of each customer project, and “white glove” treatment of testing cohorts
Support scientific staff through participation in lab activities typical to managing in a start-up environment
Establish scientific approach and work statements for each project to meet the client objectives and expected outcomes
Manage the service of client facing projects to include but not limited to:
Initial discovery studies for solutions to challenging samples or study parameters
Customization of sample preparation and/or NGS workflows where appropriate
Processing study cohort specimens in accordance with statements of work and established or custom SOPs
Provide flexible support for other activities in Tempus-wide R&D and clinical NGS labs including troubleshooting, emerging technology assessment, etc
Mentor and direct scientific laboratory staff
