The IT Systems Engineer will primarily focus on providing technical support for Essex servers – both self-hosted and cloud-based servers and workstations. The responsibilities will concentrate on installation, configuration, maintenance and updating of the server-based software and hardware, Applications, Active Directory management, AWS, Azure, Cisco Meraki and the IAM/SSO platform.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Serve as a trusted technical advisor supporting production, development, and test Systems Server support.
Support overall stability of Windows Server, VMware, Azure, and AWS functionality.
Conduct daily monitoring of server system usage by utilizing server monitoring tools and software.
Coordinate and roll out required updates and patches for servers and workstations.
Participate in technology projects; gather requirements, design possible solutions, present solutions to management for refinement and approval and provide estimates as requested.
Configure systems according to specifications, write and execute test plans, create change management documentation, implement solutions during approved change management windows, validate that all objectives and requirements are met, and completes final documentation of system.
Manage and troubleshoot Cisco Meraki networks, including wireless, firewalls, and switches.
Manage O365 Exchange Online, Zoom, and similar applications.
Resolve problems independently with minimal oversight, or when needed, follow escalation procedures to seek complex problem resolution in a timely manner.
Document configuring decisions, technical modifications, and operational procedures for IT support staff.
Coordinate testing of software changes prior to production installation.
Maintain written documentation of system architecture, technical processes, vendor contacts, and licensing details.
Participate in Change Management practices, coordinate with IT team and business colleagues to ensure timely and error-free application upgrades.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university is required.
3+ years of IT Systems Engineer in an enterprise-level environment that leverages IaaS technologies with AWS, Microsoft Azure is preferred.
Technical leadership and mentoring skills.
Systems design/architecture skills.
Proficiency in: HP, VMware ESXi 7.x and greater, Windows Server 2016+, Cloud IaaS platforms including Azure, AWS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, and TCP/IP, PowerShell scripting, System monitoring software, Backup software and recovery procedures, System security, Systems Center, SQL Server, SharePoint, Exchange Server, Office 365, SAN and NAS storage technologies, and Linux.
WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:
Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
Requires the ability to work Mondays through Fridays with in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week consistent with hybrid policy located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine or San Mateo.
Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks.
Occasional travel is required to various offices and data centers.

The pay range for this position is $98,000.00 - $146,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $98,000.00 - $123,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
