Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of related healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or other related experience are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare robotics, lasers, and other equipment used by faculty and clinical staff in the operating room suite.
  • Ensure equipment is in operating order prior to use, sync equipment with specified software prior to patient cases, and ensure proper handling, cleaning, and maintenance by faculty and staff.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all operating room equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment-related issues in the operating room during patient care and relay pertinent information to clinical staff, nurse leadership, and/or the SSOT Supervisor.
  • Assist staff in facilitating patient flow and keeping the operating room orderly and clean to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Set up equipment in operating rooms during emergencies and scheduled cases.
  • Assess operating room equipment for proper function and condition and refer broken items to Clinical Engineering.
  • Assist staff with running intraoperative lasers as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of changing certification and equipment requirements through in-services.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for new operating room capital equipment upgrades and changes, including ultrasounds, beds, and electrosurgical cautery.
  • Set up complex robotics equipment throughout the Level I trauma center before each procedure.
  • Sync mechanical robotics equipment and hospital beds to software according to the specifications of each piece of equipment.
  • Download images from a computed tomography monitor and transfer them to robotics equipment to create patient-specific three-dimensional mappings for tumor surgery.
  • Match instrumentation with three-dimensional images for physician navigation.
  • Set up the stealth navigation system for spine surgery operations.
  • Sync equipment to software as appropriate for each procedure.
  • Respond to emergency cases on weekends when called in.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate's degree is preferred.
  • One year of operating room experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical equipment, computer operations, software integration, and medical terminology is preferred.
