Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from ACEN-accredited or CCNE-accredited program.
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse with a current Texas State license including Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Experience: Demonstrated proficiency using the nursing process for patients with complex nursing care needs and ability to guide and direct others who provide care.
  • Experience: Ability to serve as charge nurse for Cath/EP Lab as needed.
  • Experience: Ability to serve as float nurse in Cath/EP Lab.
  • Experience: Skills in managing moderate sedation and monitoring patients during procedures.
  • Experience: Ability to provide nursing care to patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures.
  • Experience: Physical capability to initiate crisis intervention measures and perform nursing care emergencies, including ACLS.
  • Experience: Ability to cover cardiology procedure clinics as needed and provide patient education.
  • Experience: Ability to serve as liaison between Cath/EP and the acute and ICU settings.
  • Experience: Ability to initiate cardiac and emergency intravenous infusions and monitor patients.
  • Experience: Ability to be on call for the cardiac cath/EP lab and be available on station within 30 minutes for emergency procedures.
  • Experience: Effective oral and written communication skills and tact in dealing with patients, families and staff.
  • Experience: Proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.
  • Training: Additional duties may be assigned; training will be provided if needed.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as charge nurse for Cath/EP Lab as needed.
  • Serve as float nurse in Cath/EP Lab.
  • Manage moderate sedation and monitor patients during procedures.
  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures.
  • Initiate crisis intervention measures and perform nursing care emergencies, including ACLS certification.
  • Cover cardiology procedure clinics as needed and provide patient education.
  • Serve as liaison between Cath/EP and the acute and ICU settings.
  • Initiate cardiac and emergency intravenous infusions and monitor patients.
  • Be on call for the cardiac cath/EP lab and be on station for emergency procedures within 30 minutes.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication with patients, families and staff.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.
  • Additional duties may be assigned; training will be provided if needed.
