The agreement, subject to final contract negotiations, carries a total value of $16.8 million over a multi-year term. According to the latest data from the Insurance Information Institute, the state now ranks 27th nationally in uninsured motorist rates - placing it in the bottom half of all states and marking a dramatic reversal from the mid-2010s, when Oklahoma and Florida vied for the worst uninsured driving rates in the country. Apr 8, 2026 The Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority announced on April 8 a statewide campaign called Safe Actions Save Lives, aiming to improve safety in highway work zones during the busy spring and summer construction season. The campaign highlights the importance of driver awareness as more than 130 active work zones are expected across Oklahoma this summer.
