Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Hold a current Oklahoma Occupational Therapist license, or be eligible for Oklahoma licensure and able to practice under the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Practice Act; licensure must be completed within three months after the initial temporary license is issued.
  • Hold a current basic life support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification upon hire or complete it within 30 days of hire.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Be able to work safely with potential exposure to infections, communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, mechanical and electrical equipment, chemicals, sharp equipment, lifting, workplace violence, and other clinical hazards.
  • Follow universal safety precautions.
  • Be able to cope with high caseloads and multiple demands.
  • Be able to work with wheelchairs, walkers, and other rehabilitation equipment daily.
  • For Community Re-entry and Home Evaluations, be insurable through INTEGRIS Health vehicle insurance and work safely around traffic, weather conditions, and vehicle-related risks.
Responsibilities
  • Interpret referrals; examine and evaluate patients; and develop and modify occupational therapy plans of care, including anticipated goals and expected outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessments of assigned patients and document findings in the clinical record.
  • Coordinate patient care with other clinical team members to support optimal care and communication.
  • Direct Occupational Therapy Assistants in specific treatment and intervention components while remaining responsible for the patient’s episode of care.
  • Provide and modify skilled interventions using therapeutic procedures and techniques consistent with each patient’s diagnosis and prognosis.
  • Initiate appropriate corrective action promptly when an abnormal condition or response is identified.
  • Prepare concise, legible, accurate, and timely written reports.
  • Assess, interpret, and provide care in a safe environment according to patients’ developmental, age-specific, and cultural needs, using testing, direct observation, and demonstration as appropriate.
  • May serve as a clinical instructor and assist with orienting new employees or volunteers.
  • May float to other units and may be required to take call, work weekends, or follow a flexible schedule.
  • Use rehabilitation equipment and, for applicable Community Re-entry and Home Evaluation duties, ride or drive with patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous relevant experience is preferred.
  • For Community Re-entry Department roles, two years of inpatient rehabilitation experience is preferred.
