Position Description:
The Department of History invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer teaching positions to teach introductory courses in the discipline, including, but not limited to, History of Civilizations, U.S. History, and World History since 1900 in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.
Candidates must have completed 18 hours of graduate coursework in History.
Preferred qualifications include additional graduate hours in History, an M.A. or Ph.D. in History, or a PhD in a related field. Experience in online/distance education instruction is also preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of responsibility, initiative, creativity, and dependability, and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Instructors are expected to utilize Blackboard to submit a course syllabus, order textbooks or other reading materials, provide developmentally meaningful feedback, present engaging learning experiences, respond to students in a timely manner, communicate regularly with the designated academic program director, submit final grades within the university deadlines, and comply with other requests as a part-time lecturer such as completing an attestation and disclosure form and annual performance evaluations.
Candidates will be reviewed and placed in a pool for consideration as openings arise. Applications will be accepted throughout the year and appointments will be made as needed. Please be advised that the need for part-time instructors varies from semester to semester. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those with graduate-level coursework in composition pedagogy. The salary is based on a per-credit-hour value. Most courses are three credit hours.
